Freezer Cooking for the Elderly

A lot of folks cook in advance and freeze meals for their families. This saves both time and money because they can grab something from the freezer, defrost it, and reheat it for a quick dinner.

While this works well for a family, the portions are often too big for the elderly. I found a post at Money Saving Mom on freezer cooking for the elderly. Check it out for some great suggestions.

Thanks, Susie. I'll take a look for my mom, who lives alone.

Happy Tuesday,,

Better yet, when you do your bulk cooking, throw some meals in the freezer for your mom, grandma, or whoever might appreciate them.

This is a great idea for single people too. I might like to repost it on Widows Christian Place one of these days.

Hi Jen -

I love freezer cooking. If I'm going to make something that takes a lot of time (like tomato sauce and meatballs), I want to make A LOT!

I sometimes combine a company meal with freezer cooking. It's great to grab something, defrost it, and enjoy dinner.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Hi Melanie -

I can't take credit for this one. Money Saving Mom reminded me of all the freezer cooking I did in the past. It makes life so much easier for working women. Why not use that method for the elderly?

Blessings,
Susan :)

Hi Carol -

Yes, as I said in one of my comments, this works well. The other day, my stepson and daughter-in-law were here for dinner. I made extra, so we could enjoy it during the week.

Blessings,
Susan :)

I guess I have the best of both worlds. Inot only do not have to cook but also save a ton of money. We have a business in town "Doing Dinner" They prepare, cook and package meals for the freezer. Lois and I are light eaters and their single person meal feed us both. They gie large portions. The xost $5.00 which breaks down to &2.50 a meal. I purchase a months supply, get great variety, at dinner time I make my selection and pop it in the Mmicro. Cuz

I guess I should proof read before publishing. Their portions are large. Cost per person is $2.50 and I put into the micro Cuz
